why drink and drive when you can fly high?

Several people have commented comparing marijuana to alcohol. I think that most people that have any knowledge or experience with both would agree that alcohol is the more dangerous of the two. Alcohol was once outlawed in this country. I think once the government realized that they could tax it, they legalized it. I think its funny how most people perceive alcohol compared to marijuana. advertisement is a great example. Commercials on TV with alcohol show attractive people having a blast drinking together. I recently saw a cartoon anti-weed commercial where a guy smokes weed, and an alien comes and takes his girlfriend. I don't really know what they were trying to say except that smoking weed will have a negative effect on you. Alcohol, which was once outlawed because of its dangers, has been embraced in our society. I wonder if the same would happen to marijuana if legalized? I honestly believe that alcohol often brings out the worst in people. The effects of marijuana are far less dangerous, but in out society i believe it is perceived more dangerous for some reason. I think many people associate drugs as one big problem. Therefore, marijuana is lumped in with heroin, crack, and other far more dangerous illegal drugs. I don't think most people realize that marijuana is not addictive, and it's not as dangerous as alcohol. Our country has legalized alcohol, will legalization of marijuana be in our country's future? I don't see it happening soon due to the community's perception of marijuana.

I'm one of those people that thinking marijuana isn't is bad as alcohol. You don't hear about people that are high get into an accident or get arrested for being HI in public. But because marijuana is labeled as a drug then it will be black marked for a while. More and more they are finding out that kids are doing more perscription drugs than anything else. But the thought of illegalizing those hasn't even been a thought.

i have to agree, having been an observer of both a really drunk person and a really high person the affects of those 2 totaly differant substances maybe ferther apart than you think. living with both heavy drinkers and potheads i have survayed actions and can make a good comparisson, drunks happen to act more agressive and argumentative when aggitated, and the really high person just got the munchies and either fell asleep or zoned out. i have noticed a speedy driver who when he toked up became a mellow and safer driver, he didnt care about the cars that wanted to race him knowing he could win. i mean i havnt seen any fights break out between potheads they are too focused or melow, when every bar is a breeding ground for late night fights and DUI's.

Good peice, I agree. It seems as though alcohol related accidents and dimestic (spell check) violence is continue to increase, but because it is so socially accepted and taxes on it widen the pockets for the states: it is a money making and ignore the casualties, so to speak. I am all about legalizing because I don't believe weed is destroying society, like meth, cocane, or heroin. I feel like telling our law officials, "Stop worring about pott-heads and concentrate on what is really destroying our neighborhoods.

Okay, good, but work on paragraphs here.

There is an interesting paper in the portrayal of alcohol drinkers vs. pot smokers in commercials. Look for Youtube evidence.
